I am sure we have all learned so much from the "Conversations
with God' series of books. The thought of how and why God
shapes our lives ( or does he) is a really huge issue for many of
us. Maybe we can share our questions about love and life
through these books together. I know I would love to.....
Please consider this.

Re: Let's have a conversation about God
Tue, May 17, 2005 - 6:33 PMDebra,
Personally, I don't believe God shapes our lives. I believe we shape our lives by our own beliefs and actions. I think one of the most profound statements is "You are what you believe you are", and "You create what you believe you will create." Any thoughts on that.
Much Love,

Thu, May 19, 2005 - 8:24 AMBanzai,
You are right in that we do shape our own lives. In my case
I should say that god has Helped to shape my life but that
ultimately I am the one that makes the choices in my life.
Does that make sense?
Love Debra

Re: Let's have a conversation about God
Thu, May 19, 2005 - 7:03 PMThat makes perfect sense! You are correct that God does help us shape our lives, in the sense that he has created the perameters in which to create ourselves. That is just my belief.
Much Love,

Re: Let's have a conversation about God
Tue, June 21, 2005 - 6:40 AMwell if you are god and god is you - then by shaping your own life God is shaping it for you too at the same time, that's the dichotomy I guess, but it means both are true, you/god create what you choose and believe - together. -

Mon, June 27, 2005 - 11:11 AMGod is like an all-you-can-eat buffet in Vegas........
She has provided all the goodies, now it's up to you to something (or nothing) with it...... -

Re: Let's have a conversation about God
Sat, August 6, 2005 - 9:20 PMI would tweak this slightly. God is the whole building that houses the buffet, we are the goodies. But then again, God is us, and we are God. So all of us is all of it. But I truly do believe God has sent us nothing but angels, and that all of us are the goodies in that buffet! :)

Re: Let's have a conversation about God
Tue, June 28, 2005 - 6:38 PMFor me God is Love..and we are that Love.
Our thoughts create our very reality..and the Universe/God/Love will support us with whatever choices we make!
So indeed we are never seperated from ourselves..just maybe unconscious to that truth!
Hope that makes sense lol
It makes perfect sense to me!

I wrote an entire essay on this very topic.
Sat, August 6, 2005 - 9:19 PMI read the first 80 pages of the first Conversations With God book in January 2002. I felt the words were coming directly from my own interactions with the God of my understanding at that time. When he got to the part about there is no good/evil, and that Hitler went to heaven, I knew it was true, but I was so overwhelmed that it took me a good year to sort out how that could be true in my personal meditations.
I picked the books up again in May 2003.
The question of God had been one that plagued my awareness ever since I left Mormonism/organized religion in 2000. I had a series of knowings that I had written down. As I read the first 3 books of CWG in May - July 2003, I knew that it was true--I was God, and God was Me. There was no separation. We were one and the same.
But I was consumed by the feeling that I was an unworthy piece of shit. I just couldn't get past that feeling of unworthiness. How could I create my reality if I had no faith in myself at all?
I came up with a creative solution. I invented an Illusion--a construct, if you will--to deal with the Illusion that I was unworthy, which while I knew was false was such an over-powering belief that I couldn't transcend it on my own. I called this construct: Uni. Uni was short for Universe. Uni how I referred to God.
Well, in time and with lots of practice and meditation, I got to be quite good at this whole creation thing. My relationship with Uni grew and evolved, until people started to notice that I wasn't quite the same as many people they knew. They would hear me talk about Uni as an affectionate part of my life. Quite a number of times, I'd have people ask me, "What is Uni?" I'd start to explain it, but it took a long time, and rarely would someone be ready to hear it all in one sitting.
So... I chose to write it in the form of an essay. I started the essay in October 2004. I finished it in its present form in February 2005. It needs updating again, cause it no longer represents my current understanding of Uni, nor of the creative process. But it is a great description of how I began to approach the very question you raise here. And I think it's quite a creative approach to God/creation. Now, many of my friends refer to God as Uni. I always smile. I love hearing the name, because to me Uni is absolutely amazing and sublime. :)
Anyway, if you'd like to read the essay, I posted it in my livejournal here: www.livejournal.com/users/ta...8820.html
Thanks for the thoughtful question.

Re: Let's have a conversation about God
Thu, February 1, 2007 - 11:37 PMTo me God is YES. To every thing I believe
I think we are here to co create with god and so we need to learn how to create, that is why we are free to make mistakes
that is what this is all about to me
every thing is a reflection and validation of what we believe is true
I have found that if something in life sucks, it is validating my belief that life sucks
this is how powerful we are as creators
there is one thing that really gets in the way of changing our beliefs and that is the feelings that we have...........
moving our feelings to our core is the way to know your truth and also the way to find the beliefs that we hang onto
that keep us locked in a "negative" reality
God is YES
I believe Mother God opens up the space for Father God to fill
This is how we create
Yin AND yang
Balance
